Black and White.

Today’s post is written by our Brave Artist Mariah Neilson

In black and white, I am safe.

In black and white, its wrong or right.

It is either good enough or inadequate.

In black and white, I am confined.

When I stay in black and white, you can’t see my ugly.

But you can’t see my beauty either.

Opening up, showing you the color means I am vulnerable.

It means you can see me.

It allows you to see me as an individual.

With all of my imperfection.

Each of these photos in beautiful in black and white. But color brings them alive.

It was only when I stopped being scared of rejection and judgement that I was able to learn what it meant to be Mariah.

I stopped looking at life in black and white. It was no longer: right or wrong, good enough or inadequate. It became life.

I became fearless.

  1. Beautiful thoughts and fabulous photography. Point of black and white (safe) vs. color (living fearless) is powerful.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. What a beautiful way to send a powerful message!! I’m in the midst of learning how truly I can be myself when I let go of that fear of rejection and judgement – it’s amazing!
