Living Brave

Today’s post is by our Brave Poet, Cindy Powell

Living Brave

Living brave ~
Isn’t a feeling
It’s a choice

Living brave ~
Isn’t about sentiment
It’s about commitment

Living brave ~
Isn’t the absence of fear
It’s the presence of love

Living brave ~
Isn’t freedom from pain
It’s freedom to be you

Living brave ~
Isn’t a destination
It’s a journey

Living brave ~
Isn’t a lifestyle
It’s living life
right here, right now
fully alive
gripped by grace
compelled by love
and unwilling to settle for anything less
than ALL you were created to be

Are you ready to live brave?

These are a few of the thoughts that came to mind as I contemplated what it means to me to “live brave.”  What does it mean to you? Here’s to an amazing year filled with brave adventures for all of us!

    1. Oh! And living brave means to me that I don’t give up because I know each situation will require something different from me.

      1. Amen Stacey. I really think that is so much of it … just continuing to get up again and show up for life! Thanks for the encouragement 🙂

  1. I read this and felt freedom.. Absolute freedom! I’ve been struggling with my “bravery,” lately, and it’s mainly because I’ve been defining it INCORRECTLY! Here’s to a brave, new year!

    1. Yes! I believe *far* too often we allow these terms to define us according to “popular opinion versus ensuring that these terms and emotions are correctly defined first by God and then we get to flesh them out. If the Spirit has set us free, then we are FREE INDEED! Now, that’s brave! 🙂

    2. Oh yay–that makes my heart happy! We do tend to complicate things, I guess that’s why I’m such a big fan of all things simple 🙂 And I agree, I think this will be a brave new year for all of us!

  2. I love that living brave is not an “alone” journey.
God, so amazingly grips us (holds tight) with His grace and compels us (urges us irresistibly) by His love to not settle for anything BUT living brave.
Your words so eloquently reminded me of what living brave is truly about. Thank you for this masterpiece!

    1. Ha, ha – well, not so sure about the “masterpiece” part but thank you for the big compliment. 🙂 I’m so glad Jesus does grip us tightly and (patiently) urges us along–I can’t fathom life or brave or anything else without His presence. Hugs to you!

  3. Every time I read this…tears fill my eyes, because I can feel every.single.word to the core of my soul. I know this. I live the decision daily, not by feeling but by choice and commitment to LOVE (God). And in return, I am empowered to BE me. All of me. With no regrets, just gratitude for LIFE and that more abundant.
I love you Cindy. Thank you!

    1. My friend, you are a beautiful, living, breathing example of BRAVE–and you have impacted many (with many more to come!). So grateful our paths have intersected 🙂 Love you muchly! ❤
